Delete your UtsavMitra account

This page is for the UtsavMitra app, operated by Rajat Mishra. It explains how to delete your account and what happens to your data when you do.

The short version

You can delete your account from inside the app in under a minute, and it takes effect immediately. If you no longer have the app installed, email us and we will do it for you within 7 days. Your personal details are removed either way; your committee's financial records stay intact, with your identity removed from your profile.

1. Delete from inside the app (fastest)

Open UtsavMitra and go to the Profile tab
Tap Delete Account at the bottom of the list
Review what will happen, then confirm

Deletion is immediate — there is no waiting period, and it cannot be undone.

Two situations get an extra step, so nothing your committee depends on is orphaned:

You organise a group or an ongoing festival — the app will ask you to hand the organiser role to another member (or delete the group) first. Transferring a group moves all of its ongoing festivals to the new organiser in one step.
You have open tasks in an ongoing festival — you can hand them to another co-organiser on the way out, or leave them and the organiser will be told they need a new owner.

2. Request deletion without the app

Already uninstalled the app, or can't sign in? Email privacy@utsavmitra.co.in with the subject “Account deletion request” and include the mobile number you registered with.

We may contact that number to confirm the request really comes from you — we will never delete an account on someone else's say-so
Requests are processed within 7 days, and you get a confirmation by reply once it is done

3. What is deleted, and what is kept

Deleted

Your profile — name, mobile number, email, date of birth and profile photo
Your login identity, so the account can no longer be signed in to
Your notification inbox and any pending invites sent to your number
Your mobile number is freed — you can register again later, as a completely fresh account

Kept — and why

Chanda and expense entries in your committees' ledgers stay exactly as they were recorded, including the name and number written down at collection time. A treasurer's hisaab must not develop holes because a member left — these records belong to the committee, the same way a page in its paper register does, and are retained for its financial record-keeping
Messages you sent in group chats remain, shown as coming from “Deleted User”
